• What’s poetry?
It is a literary art we all have to agree
With the contents so rich
Words along each other in a stitch
Far deeper and richer than a story
Being comedy melancholy or tragedy
Poetry is what poets write
Hands and pens dance on paper so bright
Poetry is what lovers speak
When their heart is weak
Poetry is what a heart says
When affections go to craze
Poetry is a heart’s treasure
That extends having no measure
Poetry is what this is called
Cherished and praised more than gold
Poetry is the gift of poets from where then glen
And create by putting paper to pen
This is what poetry is
A world of joy and bliss

Poems of rhythm and rhyme
That won over time
Either in metrical units and feet
Pulsing words like heartbeats
Even in verses so blank and free
Like humming birds jumping from tree to tree
Poems of sonnets villanelles and ballads too
Ode’s elegies and many more too
Poems written in any fixed of other form
Poets use so life into words they transform
Poems of lines so short and stanza’s so rich
Words dragging images tied with hitch
Conjunctions joining lines so fair
Figures of speech here and there
Poems of a single word or more
Speaking of a heart and its core
Poems is what poets write
My emotions shine so bright

People wander around and say
Poets are writers that write
Staying hours awake at night
Writing what flows from their beneath
Poets are those in feelings who sail
In happiness they joy in despair they wail
Poets are those who left light upon their grave
With lines and poems so brave
Poets are the writers of poetry
Poets are those that not everyone can be
Poets are the owners of poems so deep
That with words to worlds they can leap
Poets are those you know the value of a pen
And never change and consume over and over again
Poets are those so sob when they sharpen a pencil
For losing tiny beads with which they can tensile
Poets are those who speak of the heart
From which emotions burst and start
Poets are those who came and left
And languages went to heft
Poets are write poems that eyes before did never see
Using words to create marvelous pieces of poetry
