I was in Memphis.
And I was dancing.
I was dreaming about romance.
He came up to me.
Just like he knew me.
He said “Baby, let me have this dance.”
The music playing
I heard me saying
“Sure, Honey, I’ll take a chance.”
The music was HOT
and sexy.
The slide trombone did its thing.
I was on the floor
like I’d never been before
wanting more
and more and more,
and more and more.
The music moved me
Said something to me
That I had never heard till then.
It gave me chills
Then gave me fever
I knew I’d never be the same again
The Blues done had me
and it’s still got me
Ever since the first time
I ever heard the Blues.
Author notes
It’s 3:30AM. I have insomnia. Me and the computer were playing Spades.
I noticed I was singing this song to myself. I liked it so I wrote it down.
To the best of my knowledge, it is metered correctly for Blues lyrics.
