From Her Point of View

She was creating tear droplets;
stirring up an inner tempest,
dying to break loose
and run rampant,
tearing down the foundations
of her broken world,
creating destruction
in a world that needed chaos
to replace the picture of perfection.

They rained down,
upon that lonely, broken soul,
just dying to reach out for humanity,
to find purpose,
and discover meaning.
She was a curious mind in an uncurious world.
She felt distant,
slipping away into the cracks of existence,
and there was nobody to save her.
She felt lost and cold,
shivering in the dark and that rain of tears,
and there was no warmth to reach out for.

One day, somebody happened to stumble upon the soul,
who had almost faded away.
A misunderstanding creature,
she had no idea of the approaching storm,
but like a goddess of light,
quelled the thunder and the rain,
and made the sun shine once again.
They were two soulmates,
both reaching out for humanity,
both trying to discover meaning.
Both seemed to slip away,
but two can't fit into the cracks.

So it was only the two,
Me and the sunny girl with the bright blue eyes.

Author notes

To Alex,

There's really no need to hold a contest to realize that you are valued in life. You don't realize it yet, but there are a lot of people who care about you. For example, there's me. You seriously mean the world to me, and I don't know where I would be if I hadn't met you. To put it blankly, I probably would have stayed lost. I have major social problems that my family just ignores. I feel weird, awkward, ugly, sad, and lonely all of the time, and there's nobody I feel like I can talk to because I can't express what I feel without bursting into tears. Maybe someday all of my problems will be resolved. That's the day I look forward to the most. Until then, there's you to rely on. You bring out the best in me, and whenever I'm around you, I always feel so happy and joyous because your spirit is so contagious and bright. You're like a magnet, and nobody can escape your pull.

Look at all of the other people who entered the contest. They too care about you, and appreciate what you have done in their lives. There's badddgirl for example, who doesn't even know you, yet you impacted her life. If the contest helped, that's good for you, but what you have to realize that you are valued in this world, and you do have a purpose (or purposes) in life, they're just unexplored and undiscovered. You're still so young. Stop trying to grow up so fast. It's okay to feel lost and confused at times, it's perfectly normal. You may feel lonely, frustrated, angry, confused, and fed up with life. We all feel that way. That's what makes us teenagers, and that's what makes us so dangerous. We feel that the world isn't going our way because it hates us, and we feel like we want to force it to bend to our will. One day, you'll feel comfortable with life. You just have to be patient for it to come. Just remember you're not alone, and you'll be alright.

~Carli~

wow. This was a very powerful poem (well, actually it IS a very powerful poem). I love the metaphors that you use here, and I especially love the ending! Your authors note is nice too lol. I think you should know (in case you don't already), that I could flip this poem around and make it end with "me and the sunny girl with the multicolored eyes," and it would be the exact same. It's strange how we are so similar in our stories... and even in the things we say. You are really truly one great friend that I will never forget no matter where life takes us. Thank you for being in my life, and at times unknowingly saving me from the depths of the deep dark thoughts and actions. I just hope that you know how truly valued you are too. Thank you so much for entering my contest, and I do hope that you had a lot of fun doing so! Alex
