Into the Wind

There are days when like a child
I run into the wind
with wild and free abandonment

Strangers watching me think me mad
I never mind for they miss out on
feeling the breeze whip my hair about
The rosy hue rising on my cheeks from
its sweet, crisp caressing

I trip suddenly sprawling to the ground
slamming my knee into the snow covering the

cement sidewalk

The stinging feels good as it reminds me I am
still alive and able to run into the wind like a child
with the same abandon I felt once long ago
before all the bad happened.

Little treasures like this turn the frown upside down
and I am happy once again

Sometimes a wind will blow by and I will hold my arms out and shut my eyes tight and feel it blow through my hair, just loving that free feeling. Reminding me of my younger years. Lovely words.
