can't believe I entertained
This fantasy so long
Now I can see how plain it was
That my instincts were wrong
I know we're just friends
Have been and will be
Never will we be more
Never you and me
If you see me cry
One tear or two
Pretend that you don't
I'll make it through
For now I realize
That you don't feel the same way
So I'll be just your friend
Forever, starting today
All that I hoped was true
Now proved to be a lie
Why'd I dream all this up?
Oh tell me, why did I?
I'll save myself the heartache
I'll assume my dream's untrue
I won't let this get awkward
I won't even ask you
We'll just keep things platonic
It works out best this way
I'll teach my heart not to feel

There are some puncuation marks needed, though. I think you told the story well, from a good point of few, with some describtion words that made it quite interesting! Thanks for entering the contest. And I thank you very much for following the rules and putting "Earthquake! Duck!" in your author's notes. It was a nice read!
