I've sat out on the beach today, every single night.
I wonder when you'll write to me, I miss you when out of sight.
You told me before you left that everything would be okay:
"I'll write you letters, I promise! One for every day!"
I kept you to those words for so long, and I wish you would come back.
But I only have the water to talk to and it does not react.
The sun plays hide-and-seek below the horizon line.
But I still sit here, staring out and I won't leave it behind.
I'm waiting for your letter, still as you are out at sea.
You said you'd send it in a beer bottle, especially for me.
But wait! Out there! Are my eyes being deceiving me?
I think it's a bottle... Is that what I think?
I bolt out into the ocean, getting water in my boots,
And I scoop up the letter I'm sure is from you.
"My dearest," you wrote, "How I miss you so!
The captain says we'll be home soon. Oh, how time goes by slow!
I cannot wait to see you, please tell the children hello.
I'm so sad you are not with me, but I wanted you to know:
I am okay, the ship is fine. It's been moving slowly but with good pace.
But this beauty of a boat can't match the beauty of your face.
And so my love, I bid to you, A goodbye that breaks me heart...
But I will return, soon, my girl, and we'll have a fresh start!"
I refold the letter and walk back to shore, so happy, my heart at rest.
To know that you have been just fine is news among the best!

Tentacles?
Reading this I pictured Elizabeth from Pirates of the Caribbean waiting for Will Turner, and now that I think about it it could've been me waiting for Davy Jones.
All in all this is a very sweet poem, a signature Amishi-style write. I wish you luck in the contests you've entered, because this one deserves the gold.
