I am told
that there are three words
that are some of the hardest to say
for the first time ever.
…well, they were wrong.
Its when you hear those words
but do not have the heart to say them back,
do not have the truth
behind those thoughts
to express them to the one before you
it brings to mind
four words that can be the worst to ever hear,
to ever say,
knowing your about to break a heart
or lie in the face of hope.
So what can you do
but turn away from that look of trust
and whisper those four
heart wrenching words
and walk away
wishing you never had to speak,
wishing you could carry on,
wishing those four words, could only be three.

Great write. Very emotional and true. No one wants to break a heart! In Line 6, "its" should have an apostrophe, and in Line 14, "your" should be "you're." Other than that, wonderful poem! Thanks for entering and best of luck!

sad but well penned . . good comparison used . . people rarely think about this one . . like "but do not have the heart to say them back" and "wishing those four words, could only be three" . . good luck in the contest !
