hic et nunc con brio

she catches sun
in her palm, a sigh away - grips color, and laughs
a thousand dreams into silence -

folded
up and down, to and fro,
like a pale membrane, like a love letter
on the hang of insignificance

today, her hands will move inertia,
her hands that drift the red, blue and green
of white light;
here, where the deepest mourn
into her finger,

constellations spring from her soul,
like bread for a thousand worlds
during love famine, she
spreads rhythm and serenity
over our shields, and what more
could be added?

there’s an earthquake
between poetry lines, that
we celebrate today

with words
more liquid than champagne

had a good inspiration crop this year
but her lips rest together,
modest and clean:

she, the curve of mountain,
the star, the moon, the sun,
a bead of galaxy -

on the bed, a blanket falls
and sings a light into her,

how she melts ice
in a quick glance
is beyond the sound
of grass growth

today we welcome
her pianissimo season
into our mouths but

nothing
is more than a gas lamp
here
at this crossroad
in this paper neighborhood
she owns

risen from a shimmer
for living beyond the ordinary -

we can only chant prayers from a mynah;
for her heart, a warm January,
and all we can give
is the murmur of curved violin strings,
watch
a thicket of long movements
in her arm

    Oh my...

Oh my.. you two beautiful women !!! This is beautiful and it's the 2nd time today that someone left me speechless.

You've made me tear up now... these beautiful, gentle words pressed here so loving against this page. What a beautiful birthday gift, Diana and Namita ... but more, this gesture means so much to me...more than I can tell you right now.

Thank you for the music of these words, the murmur of these curved violin strings... I love it.

Thank you - you two are beautiful

"there’s an earthquake between poetry lines, that we celebrate today with words more liquid than champagne"
That has to be one of the best lines I've ever read. Brilliant piece.
