Standing tall in open space
Branches spread far and wide
an ancient tree,
Dating back to written history.
Not watered be anyone
People came and gone
Winds never uprooted,
Nor droughts wilted it.
Gave home for homeless
For hundreds of poor
From different generations
Winning their gratitude.
A tree of rich foliage
In a desert of scorching heat
Comforts everyone under its shade
Without distinction of big and small.
Majestic in green lush
Entrenched by space and time
Have seen many vicissitudes
For it withstood many seasons.
Author notes
Banyan tree majestically, stand alone in our locality,
keeping company with time

The Banyan tree is an amazing tree and to stand in its presence indeed fills one with wonder and awe. I just could not resist touching it.
You have portrayed its poise and grace just wonderfully.
Good luck in the contest,
Marianne

This is an amazing poem. You have done so well here and the tree looks amazing. The imagery you have used here gives such justice to the tree. I wish you all the best in the contest.
