Who will write your love songs
When the moment of truth has passed
And your body is exalted
As a shrine to worship at
As a shrine for pilgrims to gather at
Will they place flowers at your feet?
Maybe picnic on the grass
Take icons of you to their heart
As they wander in a daze
As they ponder on their ways
And who will build your monument
Upon this rock and stone
Then fire up the furnace bright
When your martyrdom turns to lace
And your memory becomes a lost cause
So come trip the light fantastic
Dance with saints around your soul
Become the martyred maiden fair
As much as your conscience can bare
As much as your heart can hold
Who will write your love songs then
When the moment of truth has passed
