~Simple Men~

We spoil ourselves with lavishness
Feed our every craving, denying ourselves nothing
Convincing others of our importance
But, in the end, we die
all the same, as simple men

Very profound and effectively instructive advice here.We do come into life naked of all of lifes trappings,to leave the same way regardless of everything we do. Can't take anything with us nor leave anything of us behind. But our love and reputations.

"So what's really important?" We all need to ask that question, and it is words like these that remind us. As always, you touch the fundamentals with a simplicity and sensitivity all your own. My, it's nice to read you again!

Succinct and to the point. I come back, for the first time in months, to read from the site, and this is the first thing I read...wow! What a powerful truth, and in such few short words; summing up our way of life (lavish), and our exit from it (simple). A profound and moving piece, Vickie. Wonderful work, as always!

    Profound.

We all enter and exit the world the same way. Very true.

    I loved it. Well done.

A very profound piece of poetry. We are all simple, though we try to think we are more than we are. A great write.

    Ulp! I'm simple.

Guess I'll have to simply put up with that.

The brevity only adds to the succinct nature of this write.

    Well done, kiddo!

True how true....Our short lives mean the most. What have we done for others...I always remember a plaque on our childhood home"Only one will soon be past, only whats' done for Christ will last" What will our lives say of us.....in heaven....Good profound write, friend

So very true, we take nothing (materially) with us...i guess that's why we never see u-haul's of posessions driving behind funeral processions. brilliantly stated poetic truth.

    blessings and best wishes,

    ~r.

You know that is true-the grave is only big enough for the body. I do know someone who actually wants to buried in his truck-I guess he thinks the streets are meant to be driven in Heaven.
It was nice to hear from you-been a while, hasn't it?
I pray your wife and you are doing well.
