What makes this so important is that he was,
perhaps still is, a good man, once
I had crowned him King,
hero, my better half
I have imploded,
that is the badness of it:
We both believed me.

Impacting
Its difficult to have someone fail to live up to your expectations. It is enlightening to discover the failure occurred because you set the expectations too high. Very well written.

I think that happens very often..... I am sure we all set up some expectations, some wishes, and refuse to see reality for a time. Ty for your comments.

OMG!!! Your words ring so true to so many of us...we can believe enough for all, making us blind to the truth...beautiful said and great ending...I have been here and know this all to well...sometimes I just wish it was enough to make it truth....
Excellent!!!
Thank you for entering! -

Yes, don't we all..... but as long as their is respect, after all is said and done, because we realize it...rather than anger at being elt down... I guess that is the key. Ty so much for the silver.

Wow! I had to read this twice to make sure I didn't misunderstand the underlying message. Powerful is an understatement. It leaves the reader with a twinge of sadness. I guess there is a fine line from giving them our adoration and their ability to reciprocate it back to us.
Best wishes in the contest!
