A man said 'Hey I love you'.
I wondered if he actually loved me or if there was
Something more to his comment
Did he love the folds on my stomach?
The bitten nails that I chew? The rough feet I walk on?
I wondered if I could lose myself in his maze and end up
On the other side of the world
Spitting chips into some old Sicilian man's early morning milk.
A man wrote me a letter that said 'I love your body'.
He must love the way that it curls on the side walk
As a million people walk by, walking and talking about their
Interesting lives - 'The other day I bought a shoe'; 'Joey loves me';
'He smashed my fuckin' head against the front door'; 'You stupid piece of shit';
'He gave me the best night I have ever had'.
I listened to them lovingly and then I touched my stomach
And realised that I was too late for lust.
A little boy called me and said 'You're really a woman, aren't you?'
I didn't know if it was offensive to 'really' be a woman or not yet
Maybe I really was a woman and I just didn't know it
Or perhaps I am celibate because I'm too closed
Or I am sensationally overrated even though I wouldn't
Know where the hand should meet the foot in the closet
Of the lonely man's club
Where I signed up.
Is it worthy?

Bravo!
Capturing lust, hope and self-doubt all in one poem is hard to do dear Anthony, yet here you are! So I am thinking to myself What is love? I love the comments overheard in this intertwined with real thoughts...
This is you at your finest! Bravo!

I like this way of using your poem. You tease your reader throughout, a little, and make us realize how shallow our emotions can be. Very worthy!

Tony,
I really like your writing style with this poem. Your poem draws me in and plays on my emotions and make me want to know more. It's interesting how you keep changing perspective with each stanza. Its defidently worthy. I think I'll read more of your poetry!
