Many yesterdays ago you said for ever and always my little angel,
Many yesterdays ago you spoke of weddings, houses even babies,
Many yesterdays ago you were ready to reveal the truth of you and me,
Many yesterdays ago you cried because you missed me,
Many yesterdays ago you reminded me to say ‘I love you’, before I’d hang up,
Many yesterdays ago you would think of little gestures to woo me,
Many yesterdays ago you craved my kiss, my touch.
That was many yesterdays ago,
My reality was but a dream to you, from which you woke,
Leaving me with only memories of yesterday,
You broke all promises you made,
You took my fragile heart, which I gave to you freely,
And dropped it in a dark whole that you called your heart,
You said, ‘In my heart I’ll keep yours safe my love’,
That was just a lie,
You were one to say many things, but did very little,
I told you, actions speak louder then words.
You’d ask ‘how can I make this up to you?
I’d do anything you want!’
That was just empty promises,
It disappeared along with your pet names
You spoke about tomorrow,
Those tomorrows never came,
All you left me with is puddles of tears,
Bundles of heart ache,
And ever lasting sorrow,
I did everything I could to make you happy,
But I remained your lie,
Slowly becoming your shame,
You left me,
With only this pain.
