A Poem for Winter

Black smoke bellows from the roof tops,
And the snow is settled all 'round.

The night is silent and the air crisp
Clear skies of starlight shine.

The winter's breath brings frozen life,
And all is still for a moment in time.

Tracks from sleighs and hoof prints rest
Among the snow fallen way.

This is the sight of winter
Mother natures time to sleep.
