Surprise Turn

A motorcycle ride, hair blowing in the breeze.
Release of tension, in beautiful degrees.

Never crossed my mind, the enjoyment would end.
A turn gone wrong, I may lose my best friend.

He's looking at me, can't catch his breath.
Is this the day, we both meet death?

Never believe, there's years for love.
Tomorrow may call, your love up above.

Each hug or kiss, give it your all.
You never know, when death may call.

A miracle, kept the both of us here.
Never take for granted, those you hold dear.

Author notes

The doctors told us neither of us should have made it. This experience taught me to TRULY never take anyone for granted. Many people say it, but few actually live it!

A contest entry

My mother taught me if you have nothing nice to say don't say it at all. We are not here as pros, we are here to share our art and have fun. *grin*

    Wow!

This is a powerful and amazing poem that speaks so much wisdom. It really is true that so many of us take our loved ones, especially, for granted. Life is precious, and as you state here, we never know how long we are promised on this earth. Thank you so much for this important reminder to cherish each and every moment with loved ones. I am happy you made it and are spreading the message that you learned to help others. blessings, Patty

This piece is something really special, it puts backbone to taking things to heart and the concept of doing something before you regret not doing it. Keeping writing.

very true, and thank you for reminding us in this lovely poem. when i think of all the close calls i hve had, i know it wasn't my time yet.

like the saying goes...we should try to appreciate each day and each other as though it is our last.

this was a traumatic experience that has only brought the both of you that much closer. you both share 2 great twins and a bond that most people wish they could have.

    Amazing!

This is an awesome poem my friend, I learned the true meaning of regret after my brother died in car accident and the last words from my mouth 3 days earlier that he heard was "I hate you", living life, actually living every moment of every day is so important, I too wish all people would live like this.
I stand and applaud you friend, and thanks for this beautiful entry.
