Healing Greif

It could be anyone
Your world shatters for one of your own
They’ve always seemed immortal
But when all you have left is photos and memories
It doesn’t seem like enough

Days continue but all seems still
Filling the hole in your heart with misery
“How do you heal the pain?”
Like a problem without an answer
Feels like the hurt will never disappear

Without an outlet healing takes time
You need to get rid of your heartache
Your hands confirm your life
Don’t waste the gift that you have
Create artistry from the anguish within

A different means but the same results
A life is lost but beauty is gained
From death is an inspired birth
An “I love you” that lasts forever

Author notes

I'm in theater class and we were rehearsing a scene from our final performance (which is in 3 days) where a girl relates how her cousin got shot, as she tells her story a guy acts it out on the side, when she ends everyone is circled around the body like it's a funeral. My teacher said the scene would be more powerful if a poem was read that had to do with loss and how creativity helps heal pain (our theme is "Creative Expression"), so I volenteered and this is what came from my mind.
