It's always the way... humans in general tend to do things that are bad for them and not take advice when they need it. Very true indeed.

I agree. I don't think we do it on purpose. But maybe sometimes we don't exactly know what we need until we find what we don't need. Well-stated though I think it could be rewritten as two sentences instead. For example,
"That for which we do not seek, we often find but do not see. Yet when our eyes are set to see, we seek out what we do not need".
The message is clearer that way. Very insightful though.
