whilst the doctor, to resuscitate her did try.
But strange as it may seem, she knew it was no dream.
Looking down from on high, as she rose swiftly by,
At her body below, on the bed.
As she shot through the roof,
She had realized the truth and was firmly convinced, she was dead,
but to her surprise, she continued to rise,
and through a dark tunnel she sped,
to her utmost delight, beheld a brilliant light,
and met many she knew were long dead.
But she was to learn, time had come to return,
back to her hospital bed.
She said nice to be back, the next day to the quack,
who was certainly moved, that her condition improved.
She said I saw at a glance, that you had come from a dance,
as you tried to resuss me that day.
Those shiny black shoes, not the type you would choose,
to wear in the theatre each day.
He said you are right, but I don’t know quite,
how you could see, when you're out, like a light.
The doc was amazed, and thoroughly dazed,
scratched his head, and staggered away.
It was only by chance, that he went to that dance,
that he has no fear of death to this day.

Humour & Truth
"Near death experience" couples humor with the Poet's truth to help the
"medicine go down" in a world full of fear and doubt.
Thank you for sharing this with us. Keep spilling this ink; we all need to know
that Life is Eternal and that Death is a Door through which we all must pass and may do so without terror or dread.
I have appreciated reading "Near death experience".
Gratitude and Appreciation!

If some overpaid, undereducated quack would bring me back from where the lady has been, I would shoot him as soon as I would be strong enough again to hold a gun. And then I'd hope he'd return to this plain of abuse and grief, just so he'd know what he actually did to me. Thank you for creating and sharing. Enjoyed reading. Take care.

Many thanks for your comments on "Near Death Experience" it was based
on a true story. There are quite a few doctors who have written
books on the subject namely Dr. Kubler Ross she wrote "On death and dying" London Tavistock 1973. "Life at Death" Dr. Kennoth Ring "A scientific investigation into the Near death experience" New York 1980.Michael B. Sebom "Recollections of death a medical investigation" New York (Harper and Row 1982.Raymond Moody "Life after
Life" Mockingbird books london 1975.Some of these may be still in print anything further you would like to know don't hesitate to ask

This is why I love poetry!
you know exactly how to write. It flows perfectly; I have never seen such smooth rhyming except maybe once in my life. It seems like you definitely know what your talking about. I wish I could write like this. I can't wait to read more by you! xD

I like this write George and as this happens to so many people I do believe there is something that happens to us that we don't understand properly yet. It is a fascinating subject to stay open minded about.

You have done a great job with composing this imagery filled poem and I enjoyed it a lot. But how do I know it is true? Thanks for your entry.

There are thousands of cases world wide of N.D.E s Doctor Raymond
Moody who wrote "Life after Life" interviewed hundreds of people
who were resussitated and all told a similar story.Docter Elizabeth
Kuebler Ross also took hundreds of statements from N.DE.s patients (she was a professor of psychiatry at Chicago university)of swiss
origin she examined the only just alive survivors of Auschwitz and
Majdanek concentration camps she was originaly agnostic but after
listening to elated patients dying happily at Billings nospital Chicago she became interested in N.D.E.s patients.Doctor michael Sabom professor of medicine at Emory university is another N.D.S.s investigator.Earl Spencer(Dianne's Father)heard and remembered
everything his wife said to him after he lay insensible after a brain haemorrage in 1979. there is a poet on the site who after reading
my "Summerland" poem told me of his N.D.E.after crashing on his motorbike need I sat more....George ++++

But I could be wrong.
-
This is really good as well but I think it should say "to wear in the theatre each day." not every day. Not because it is wrong but because it seems to make it flow better.

An interesting theme in this write. Not quite the imagery I was seeking but thanks for entering.

Thankfully, I have never died, not even for a moment. A unique and thoughtful poem. I don't know exactly how this ties to philosphies of good and bad, except maybe, that death isn't usually something that people associate with pleasant experiences, even though, coming back to life might be considered a pleasant blessing.
Anyway, a very nice write.
s and best wishes always... ~Genie~

Though my NDE's were very different in experience, I still found this to be a wonderful write, full of descriptive imagery and a wonderful twist at the end, that I liked. Great job with it.

yes, usually people who is near to death said that they had dreamt meet with those who has passed away...also seeing a door, light...which you did express it well in this poem.

Great write!
I needed something to lift my spirits & this did! Glad to see you won a trophy for this & hope you win many more.
I like the tempo of this, though it does get choppy at times, nonetheless, it reads well & the flow has one moving right along. Love the way you tie this all up nice & tight with your last line. Bravo!

Thank you for this interesting entry in our contest, we found the rhyme and flow to be off in places which hinder ed a smooth read of the piece.

Thank you for your remarks on my N.D.E. poem I have checked and altered the sylable counts dotted all the eyes
and crossed the tees.It may have lost some of it's impact
but the "old version" won a "mention" so it doesn't really matter. JUDMC

I always knew there was something after our lives, but I wasn't truly sure about death until I met someone who had such an experience. He told me it was the most beautiful experience he'd ever had, and in no way was he fearful of death now. It gave me the assurance that death is not a bad thing, and it may actually be something to look forward to.
This is a really nice read. I enjoyed the story very much, and I love your style. Actually, I believe you would enjoy writing prose or free style as well. Loved this! Patricia

Oh incredible! I've had out of the body experiences but not because I was dying. I've seen that brilliant light too. Sounds like she certainly changed that doctor's ideas. Wonderful, thanks so much for posting it.

Powerful write and very eye opening. It makes me think of how sometimes there are things that are so mysterious in life that we may be shocked by them at first. I liked the ending of this. It had a sense of peace to it. Thanks for sharing and keep writing.
