It’s the endless struggle
Fighting against all odds
Breaking the mold
As history tells time and again
Society bound, handicapped,
Weathered to the ground
Slaving to overcome fate
Craving escapement of hate
Bleeding for a better life
The open wounds for all to see
Never giving up, despite
Trial after trial, failing—
Unable to comprehend the words
Checkmate, defeat, inadequacy,
Only keeping faith in succeeding
Dismissing the royals of today
With their neglecting, disrespecting ways
Trying to keep them in their place
Though the strong too know
Failure gives to practice,
Falling into perfection—
The tables soon will turn.

When i looked at the picture, i saw a man on his knees trying to get back up amidst a war of unfair hierarchy.

Thank you for this entry, and for your rich response to the prompt. Also for using green, the complementary colour to red. Your thoughful poem is wonderful, I feel honoured to have elicited such a human response. My favourite lines /Never giving up, despite trial after trial/ and /falling into perfection/ Your uncomprimising understanding of the human condition is very mature. Well done, poet.
