Where did you go grandma?
in the middle of my day,
so calm so still
in my old armchair,
eyes closed in feigned slumber,
slipping away
from my crazy world
of domestic bliss
and children at play.
What do you see I wonder,
is there someone there you know,
is there something so compelling
that its hard to let go.
I watched you for a while
and I’m certain I detected
a Mona Lisa smile.
Where are you bound for?
my Venus de Milo
so grand, so proud
in that old armchair,
are there loving arms around you
is your head held high?
neath a crown of once gold hair.
A porcelain Queen
who never wore a frown,
so calm so still
that now you never will.
Please tell me what you think

This is such a beautiful and touching dedication poem. You painted a picture with your words of a truly wonderful person, I'm glad I got to knew at least a little about her through this poem...
Thank you for sharing this!

I like the reference to your grandmother as the Venus de Milo - it was quirky
other than that this was a sweet poem of dedication to your grandmother - and the way that you portray her is beautiful - I enjoyed the read

This beautifully written poem has special emphasis for me this week, as I'm catching a flight to Brisbane tomorrow morning to attend a funeral of a close friend in Toowoomba...
I love the gentle tone of this piece, giving it a wonderful sense of well-being and peace ~ after all, it should be like that in an ideal world. I wish we could all quietly slip away without causing a ripple.
I love the' love' in these lines, too. You've done a beautiful job here, hun.
Well done. Lovely jubbly!

Hmm, it seems to me that she was passing away peacefully without any pain. Death is hard on the loved ones left behind, but she is in a better place now.

Ronnica,
This is a lovley and yet probing poem, asking the questions that may only get answered by the ponderance and exercise of our imaginations. Lovely imagery shared here, thanks for sharing. Best of luck to you in the Bandit Auction.

Oh, so quietly, you slip away
into the joy receiving you in glory.
I love you, Grandma, and I can’t wait
to hear you tell this story.
