In His Image

The Ancient of Days, the Supreme Being
Our God Almighty, all seeing
Look around you, observe the birds and the bees
Smell the perfume of flowers, be in awe of the trees
Listen to the sound of the waves in the seas
Watch the dolphins, majestic with ease
Gifted people who can compose music so rare
Beethoven, Debussy, Bach and Elgar
Infinite spirit guide me, show me the way
Help me get through each and every day
Where is God? is this question on your mind?
The Holy book says seek and ye shall find
We are made in His image, but His face I'll never see
For I am imperfect and not as Holy as He
What I can do, is truly believe in this God above
For in the beginning He made us all with love
Yes, He gave us a commandment to love all His creations
Turn your swords into plowshares He told the nations
Love surrounds us all, yes you can see it in others
Observe the love given to children, especially by their mothers
A smile can show the world of your kindness and generosity
Because it was a gift from God in all His simplicity.

    You rhymed:
"Gifted people who can compose music so rare
    Beethoven, Debussy, Bach and Elgar"

Unfortunately rare/Elgar is NOT a rhyme! The only composer I can think of who would rhyme with "rare" is Leclair and he's not exactly famous.

    STUNNING!!!!

    STUNNING!!!
Beautiful work this. Such truth written in this message. God is all around for those that seek Him out. God can be found in the artists the writers, the peacemakers, and Mother Nature herself. Speak about God to another person, and HE makes up the third person, entering within the conversation itself. Such imagery that this piece of writing brings to my mind. It is simply beautiful.

Keep writing Nansie, for within your hands you have the talent.

    Much Love

I love the conceit that we are made in God's image. Look at a deformed hunchback or a mentally defective cripple. Do we see God's good visage and wondrous body there?

    Don't all answer at once.

You have captured so much of the character of God through your words in this delightful read. He is better to us than we could ever deserve-but then He is our father and a good father loves his children despite their imperfections, right? Best wishes in this contest!
