If the great writers of today
Were silenced and sent away
Where would we be
If a voice weren't set free
If the great peace makers
Had settled for just being lawn rakers
Where would the world go
If the voices had said no
If a lover never dared
To say how much he cared
How would a relationship strive
If a voice didn't stay alive
If a bell didn't ring
How would a choir know which note to sing
They wouldn't know when to come in
If a voice didn't know where to begin
If I were ordered not to speak
I feel my world would be very bleak
Life is only real when silence is destroyed
So silence is what a voice should avoid

This is quite a thought-provoking poem that you have written here. You did a good job with the rhyming in this one, though the flow seems to be wobbly here and there.
Thank you for entering the contest, I wish you the very best!

It is serious and has a certain lightness at the same time, I really like that about it. "Had settled for just being lawn rakers". . . great line! If there were a court case that I was in against silence I would have to hire you for my defense. The last four lines don't strike a chord with me, but I love the rest of the poem.

great poem. u show how silence would affect the world if it was allowed 2 take over. Great rhyme as-well
