Blowing billows in the curtains
to make their presence known,
misty, amorphous phantoms from my past
come again to invade my home.
I thought they had been exorcised at last!
Intruding upon my very dreams
are vestiges of another life I’ve known.
relentless remnants of old sorrow,
visions of a former joy now flown.
I thought I’d banished them from tomorrow!
Respites are brief from these creatures
who recede but are never truly gone.
Their visits provoke the mournful revelation—
I am not alone.

There are the fond ones and the foes. More formidable are those shadows that creep in our path and haunt our dispositions. You've expressed that very well.
Words, form, and content are very good overall. I'm more reluctant to critique something so personal as no one stands in your shoes.
Thank you for giving us something to think about and inspiring us to write! Warmly, CookieZeal
