There once lived a man in Shadowsdale,
Beyond the brink,
Beyond the vale,
His sword hung rusty on the wall,
Before the day before the fall,
The day then came when he was called over the land and waterfalls.
For three days and three nights he trekked across the plains,
Beyond the brink,
Beyond the vale,
Through dragons' lairs,
And forgotten walls,
In the dark places beneath the earth.
Fighting a demon for all he was worth,
He vanished then, and came back again, in the woods near the castle.
Travel stained and weary he went into the town.
He wasn't surprised to see people frown.
He went straight to the king and asked where the battle would be,
The king said "Battle? I'm afraid you'll get no answers from me."
There was no battle to be fought at all,
He found in the towering information hall,
So he went back through the cave and over the plains.
He lived long days with the treasure he got,
From the dragon's hoard and the demon he fought.
And so is the story in the Shadowsdale,
Beyond the brink,
Beyond the vale.

Interesting poem. A vetran is conscripted, so he takes up his rusty sword and travels through many adventures just to find that there is no battle to be fought. Still, he went through hardships to fight for what was right, and he was rewarded for it. Good job. And of course, one of my favorite backgrounds...

I loved the rhythym to this and the story. It keeps the reader engaged and interested in the writing. Great job!

This is another epic poem....the rhythm shuffled a bit for me as I was all set for the meter of byond the brink beyond the vale. A solid entry.
