My New Year resolution
has flown right out the door.
I've made the same one frequently
since I was forty-four.
This constant resolution
now I'm sixty-five;
is to get a lttle slimmer
but fate! It will contrive...
to put a gremlin in the works,
each time I make a stand.
I turn around and lo!
I find - some chocolate in my hand.
I'm sure I didn't put it there,
it must have been the dog!
I know I shouldn't blame her
though she is a little hog.
The salad veg are rotting,
fate made me eat the cake.
and why are biscuits lingering,
at my bedside when I wake?
My stomach can't be fatter
though everything feels a squash.
Someone changed the dial to "hot"
and shrunk my undies in the wash!

Good
This jerks at our funny bone in innocent fun. Your thoughts are clear and your words bubble with life so that the reader is caught up in your enthusiasm. Good structure with a natural cadence that welcomes the reader with a smile.

Yes, yes, I'm right there with you on this, laughing and giggling and picking up just one more piece of chocolate and maybe buying clothes a bit bigger than I need, just in case.... thank you !
