Sorrow knows this dress I wear
and beneath, skin and bone
where burrowed your beguiling,
best-told lies; a heart, so halted,
that there is no breath to take
except those filled with saline.
Gather seaweed and crustaceans,
I learned their stories
in wild waves and backstroking
surely, further from shore,
I swallowed them
and knew ecstasy in not exhaling.

Breathtakingly sad, poetically capturing and moving.
I held my breath reading it...
"a heart, so halted,
that there is no breath to take
except those filled with saline."
Dripping with feelings, m'Lady.

Sighhh...So very hauntingly beautiful. Good luck in the contest, my dear Friend.

I like the tone here, calm in spite of obvious emotional turmoil. Given the requirement of no rhyme, you've woven intricate sound patterns throughout which constantly remind us that we are in the presence of poetry here, not prose. Very well done.
