oaken departure

A rush of notes I hear aloud
The soft tap, tap of falling leaves tapping the ground
A hand held steady amongst swirling red and orange.

I stood under the old oak tree
And listened to the leaves fall
I came and listened and left
Leaving that old oak wondering...

...if I was ever there at all.

So give me my way back from this dream
I fell and fall and unequally seem
ill fit and ill fated
To end up unrelated
To a destiny I could not understand.

Beauty is found not in the lips,
But in the smile.

Not in the eyes,
but in the look.

Not in the body,
but the embrace.

Not in the world,
but in our hearts.

A destiny I dare not understand.
