I'll cry if I want to!

Missing image

A voice so shrill

it cuts glass;

the way it eats my flesh

with everything swallowed whole.

A breath can inhale and

I see the cringe

escape my shoulders

before I stop it.

Hostility suits this game

of Cat and Mouse.

Your oh so helpless manner reeks

and the smell is faintly

pathetic.

'A voice so shrill...' I can hear that voice myself. Like fingernails on a chalkboard. I can relate to the emotion in this poem. And I love the picture.

Oh, it makes me think of a couple of "friends" I used to have. Their worlds fell apart every other day, and boy did they love to whine and cry about it. It just gets to be too much after a while, and you have to take a step back or risk becoming one of them

    The picture was really cute.

    Next time,

call me... I'll put on my Carhartts, an' brace those walls, cuddle you like an extra daddy. 'Cause, I know how strong you are, and I would want yer daddie's lil carpenter when my walls wilt.

This is well done, and the picture is soooo CAT!

Leslie Gore, eat your heart out. Cat nailed your pity party to the wall. As Chaka Khan sang, "Once you get started, ohhh, it's hard to stop." Love it, Lady...Love you more. Wanda

you have captured a moment perfectly before I feel like I need to cry or even just need to get things out..and there is always someone who likes to dampen emotions telling you to dampen yours..it is always a wonderful feeling to be so comfortable with another that we can cry in front of them..I like to think I am that kind of person..lol...I really like this poem..

Happy new year..I hope you are well

I love that picture that is awesome! When I see a boy crying I always say, "Take off your dress and end this tea party! I liked the poem too... it just kind of clashed with the picture.
