A Child's Growth

The growth of a child is an inspiration,
as a parent to give a firm foundation
to live their life the best they can
leading their footsteps along life's plan.

From learning to walk and talk and eat
and trying to teach them to keep their things neat!
the first day at school brings tears to the eyes
hoping that knowledge will make them wise.

To watch them play and laugh tugs at the heart
wanting to keep them close and never apart
seeing them grow into young adults
with pride and love you see the results.

Wishing for contentment in whatever they do
showing respect for all, to themselves being true,
a mother's love will never cease
always hoping a child can live in peace.

Throughout the years they continue to grow
through rain and hail, sun and snow
a journey of growth through parental guidance
one of joy and pain, not avoiding life's chances.

This is a beautiful tribute to your children, as well as a wonderful take on the prompt. The flow and rhyme was great. I am honored to have you enter my contest! Thanks and good luck!

As a parent, I appreciate this write. They grow smart and bold as we grow old. I like how you follow the growth through to adulthood.

The final line feels a bit cumbersome and long. You could fairly easily shorten the syllable count (joy instead of laughter, fo example.) I would like to here how their adult experiences cause them to grow. The final two lines don't say very much to me as is.
