I guess we weren’t meant to fly
though our hearts were intertwined,
The stars weren’t on our side.
I tried not to fall,
But you just pushed down the wall
into a forbidden zone,
I tried to save my heart and your own.
Even though the sparks did fly
it’s time to kiss this love goodbye
The love may keep a small flow
but now it has no chance to grow.
In its place is a flower of friendship
that won’t wither through all the hardship
I know I’m not the only love for you
you’ll find others, love that’s new.
My heart is in circles, yes or no
feelings rising high and low.
But I’ll always be here as a friend
helping you in tough times till the end.
But I guess its for the best
this love was more than just a test
You made me feel beautiful again
loved, respected, cherished when I had not been.
Thank you for everything
our songs will forever sing
But I’m not able to heal all the scars
I can’t be everything you wanted, your star.

The first stanza means a lot to me, because it reminds me of my ex and I's old relationship, it was not meant to be and yet it still hurts. Like Marluxia has said, this happens a lot and although it happens to a lot, you've penned it in a way that we can feel the empathy, almost be reminded of those times when we went through similar things.

This happens a lot in people's lives, and you've penned it in a way that readers can really relate to. I cannot personally relate to it, but it gives me the opportunity to at least see what it would be like. Such a sad outcome in the end... Touching write.
