My Captain, My Love

My captain, for you I serve
My love, I give my heart
This love we do deserve
With passion we never part
My captain, my love
My protector, my friend
Soulmates through heavens above
Forever we're together, til the end
My captain, my love, for you I give my life
My captain, my love, make me your wife
Torn apart, never again shall our souls part
You're my soulmate forever in my heart
My captain, my love,
Till death do we part

I like the repetition here. It seems to go with the gentle flow of love here. I so do love a good love story in the form of poetry. Great read. ~gypsy~

    Sincerely moving

This reads very well and conveys the intensity of love. May I make one suggestion for your profile and this page- the black/ dark backgrounds make reading the light type quite difficult for the reader.

  • What a sweet little ditty
But so short its a pity
    The nautical element was great
As love fits anywhere, refusing to wait

What a great read! That love in here, one I know well. And you know, even in death, the hearts are still one. May be apart physically, but when love is true, it still seeps into ones heart after they are parted by death.

Best of luck in this contest!

    • thanks for the comment and the luck! what you said about love it true, very true. i'm glad and greatful for what i have. it's not easy, but it's worth it!

  • touching yes, reminds me alot of the days of pirates and lost times. though I would go as far to say this could of been inspired by a movie in which th backround is based off of, or for a true love.
write and we shall read. ususally

      thanks!

thank you for your words, i enjoyed your comment. glad i could give you a glimpse of johhny depp. to be quite honest the poem is about my fiance but i really wanted to use the background, so i got twice inspired for this poem.

  • A very sweet piece of devotions. Interesting rhyme scheme, with emphasis on who rests in your heart. Nicely done!

OOOH wouldnt johnny depp Be the best captain.
Love the background the font color seemed a little bright but I understand sometimes it is hard to find colors that will show up on some backgrounds.
Love it all the same... Well done.

      delighted!

johnny depp is a great actor and i loved him in the pirate trilogy (btw rumors of a 4th???) he's got a great singing voice too (hope you heard or saw him in sweeney todd) as for the font color i had a dredful time trying to pic one...this light blue seemed best to go with the dark background color...do you think i should keep it or try harder to get a different one? anyways.... thanks again!

      love your sweetness

i love your sweet comments...i'm officially engaged to him and he was very pleased with this poem... he's not really into poetry but he loves mine. i believe we are soulmates mostly because anytime we fight, we can't stay mad and we always find a way to patch things up, been thru alot and don't think anything could drive us apart.

What a beautiful piece this was. "You're my soulmate forever in my heart". I was smiling with each line that I read. I love the sea and this gave me images of a woman as she watched her man heading off to sea. As soulmates you would live to serve each other. Wanting to make each other the happiest person on this earth. Thank you for sharing this poem with me and keep writing poet. So beautiful. seamaiden ♥
