[ My heart lies shattered ]

My heart lies shattered
like the shards of glass
that lay broken on the
linolem floor.
My mind runs rampant
with forbidden thoughts,
thoughts too dark to ignore.
Inside is the child,crumpled
up like a piece of paper
a schoolboy has tossed aside.
The feelings, the thoughts,
the darkness that fades out
the light.
Where is the joy that I once knew,
how has it come to this?
Why I am standing on the shore
of a depressing abyss?
Stranded in a sea of thoughts and tears,
my body, my heart pleads GET ME OUT
OF HERE!
I look for my beacon of light, a slight
shimmer of hope,
I too can get away from the inner
demons and the well of tears.

    Wow

This is such a deeply painful write. It touched me to the core of my soul. I could feel your pain as I read this. Your imagery was wonderful and the poem had a great flow. I hope you know that things will get better. I know it doesn't feel like it right now, but you must keep hope clutched tightly in your heart. I do have to point out two things that, in my opinion would help the flow. First and I apologize if it seems petty but I believe you meant rampant rather than rampart in line 5. The other thing is I think these lines-
    Inside is the child, crumpled,
up like a piece of paper that
    a schoolboy has tosside aside.

    would flow better like this-
    Inside is the child,
crumpled up like a piece of paper
that a schoolboy has tossed aside.

You might even be able to take out the word that in the last line. Anyway, those are just my personal opinions. Thank you for sharing. I look forward to reading more of your work
