ugly/beautiful?
wish I could see through your eyes.
filthy/pristine?
we've all made mistakes, love.
unworthy/perfect?
you're the one who made me worthless.

quaking in ruby slippers and drowning in this ink,
with cold physician eyes I examine
the pieces of what we've created.
insanity asks if you ever felt as much as I still do.
"It's okay, sweet,
As long as you smile behind the ski mask."

Like a faithful pet kicked aside,
I come whimpering back seeking approval.
At least the bruises mean I'm noticed.
[Collar] me desperate.
I needed your monochromatic love
Like an amateur trepan.
Screaming words I could never whisper,
I beg for your murderous deliverance.
crazy/wise?
(they say the proof lies
in trying the same thing over and over
and getting the same result)
empty/complete?
I'm your pretty little nothing,
you're my hideous heart.
"Don't worry, honey,
I'll clean up the blood and the blame for a kiss."
accomplice to my own abuse
swallowing stinging drops of remorse...
this torturous bliss is short-lived.
ugly/beautiful?
I'll tell you what I see.
I see a spirit that will never break
in a body that has broken many times.
I see a heart that will always love
the one who would see it destroyed.
[[someday, I'll ask myself instead of you]]

Such horrible emotion, so sad. There are so many people in the world like this, and it breaks my heart to see them throw themselves away for the "love" of another, so unworthy. You did a great job with this-you are a finalist. Thanks very much for entering, and best of luck.

This was excellent! you did a good job with your descriptions and I can really relate to this... I got away from the one that hurt me though... well good luck and good job this was well written
