Eyes reflect a liquid moon
that drips from the melted skies
and pools in the lakes and oceans,
streams of silver light.
Strings of mercury.
Metallic rainbows of dragonflies
reflect the celestial glow.
As the May beetles dance
on breaths and breezes,
jeweled scarabs,
swaying to a cicada's hum.
Wings drenched in stardust,
cool shimmering ashes
that coats the fur of rabbits
that huddle under bushes,
their black eyes sparkling.
Fireflies float on wisps of air,
dancing stars caught in nets,
trapped in glass jars.
Perfect prisons.
Maybe the world will be happy now,
on these starry summer nights.
