Cold steel
Will penetrate flesh
The wound,
Will throb and smart
But far more painful
Are ones of the heart
Soothing Balm
Might cease the pain
That body blows impact
But what can heal
The deep cut wounds
That are only inflicted
Onto your heart
Yes, marks
And scars will fade
Forgotten long after the pain
But forgotten reguardless
But when the heart is hurt
The wound will forever remain
Author notes
found this poem, don't know how old it is.
But it seems to still hold true

"reguardless" should be regardless, no?
This poem is oh so true. No matter how much we think we have healed, the wound truly does always remain. Thank you for entering it into my contest.
