Just His Memory Protects

Disillusioned

Sometimes my thoughts travel,
To a place unknown to thee.
My mind gets disillusioned,
To an outright fantasy.
My heart sings the "chorus,"
My mind sings "refrain."
My legs do the "dancing,"
My feet do their "thing."
Emotions are real here.
In this land that I travel.
No one disputes me,
So my nerves do not unravel.
Protected from the invaders,
No worrisome persuaders.
Sometime it pays to be disillusioned,
The world is full of haters.

Gone But Not Forgotten

The days were filled with bliss,
our love shined, like sun rays streaming.
Before your death, my life was full,
rich, in love and harmony.
Moonlit nights and romantic escapades,
captured, and cherished deep within my soul.
Locked away, in my hearts treasure chest,
as I dream, of your smiling face.
Your tender heart, inflamed my vision,
of hope and trust, something never shared.
With anyone, before or since,
the essence of your inner beauty.
Captivated.........

Author notes

Disillusioned is how I feel most of the time. But when I think of his love he comforts and protects me.

    Wow!!! Blew me away!!!

Two great pieces for the price of one...
So full of passion & feeling...
Each one stands in the light of truth & raw emotion.
Paints a picture in the mind of the reader that is both thoughtful & endearing...
    Well done!!!

I can see you are beginnign to seriously work on your craft. It takes a great deal of work to move into metaphors and poetic devices to get past the cliches, but it is coming. Well done and thank you for entering.

these are such lovely, clear and reflective thoughts, it doesn't feel like disillusionment, it is softer, more whistful when the mind is elsewhere as the body performs. The second one captures the memory after the sadness has lost it's bite and retrieved what was worthwhile. Good luck!

We all need to take comfort and comfort comes from who you wish to reach for.
Never shall we be alone when we have that.
Beautiful written piece you have created
