With each new babe the world sees hope
of a future where there's equal scope
to work and grow together all
so that into anarchy we don't crawl.
Two thousand and eight give us another chance
to cultivate peace and our earth enhance
what we hand on to this generation
will decide the future of all our nation's.
With innocence the babes are born
let's not hand them a world that's torn
look into those eyes and see reality
for there you'll see a need for morality.
Another year when we'll work hard
to stop a world from being charred
hand the little ones a future bright
and a universe in serenity will ignite.

A very nice poem with perfect rhyme and a very realistic message. The children are the future of this world and therefore we (adults) have a mission, to make this world a better place for everybody and especially for the children. We cannot leave them with a bankrupt world. That would not be fair. I share your thoughts wholeheartedly. Well done!
Anna.
PS. Have another look at the second stanza. I think there are a few grammatical issues.
