My little boy is my first pride and joy.
In his youth he had a favorite toy.
With this toy, his time he chose to spend.
Cookie Monster was his best friend.
No friendship I’ve had has been so great.
Together they slept and played and ate.
I was forced to make a tough decision,
one night while watching television.
From the kitchen something fell and crashed,
so to the kitchen I quickly dashed.
There in a clutter of pots and pans,
sat my son with his friend in his hands.
I asked what happened and helped him up,
Then gave him milk in his plastic cup.
My son explained in a quaking voice,
and forced me to make a very stern choice.
When my son insisted Cookie did it,
I took my boy’s toy and promptly hid it.

This is a fun look at a situation that is realistic for many parents of young children. I’m sure many would read it and think and immediately recognise the scene you set. Children are our pride and joy but they can get up to some real mischief when it suits them. Don’t let the Cookie Monster get away with it lol. I like the humour in this piece. Good luck in the contest.

Ha ha! This was so tenderhearted, cute, and funny! In fact, it reminded me of a time when I was probably your son's age: I asked for a cookie, and my mom said no. She heard some rustling downstairs at about 3 a.m., and came down to find that I had climbed into the pantry to get the cookies myself! They were well-earned, but so was the punishment

Very well done, and good luck in the contest!
