Just Some Advice

Feet so small in your mother's hands,
She's never been happier.
Your little hand grabs at a finger rough from work.
That's your Daddy and he's prouder than ever.
These people they love you,
All they want is for you to be safe
And they'll give it all they've got to keep it that way.

Now I know sometimes you're parents will get under you skin,
Don't let it get too under there though,
Because a lot of those times it's when they're only looking out for you.

This world may be hard,
But you'll make it.
When things seem to get too tough,
Remember the people who love you.
And when you leave home,
Never forget where you came from,
Because no matter what,
Home is always home.

This is just great! I love how you have chosen to speak directly to Jesse, telling him of his importance to us, and then reminding him that we love him even if things get tough. What a very special poem this is. Thank you so very much for writing.

This is not the most lyrical poem in the contest, but its heartfelt sentiment is evident in every line. I particularly enjoyed the message of the second stanza. Inevitable conflicts lie in the future, but if we all remember the power of love we can weather the crises. Good luck in this contest. Peace, Liz
