1st and last

Behind these eyes that can't contain my tears
Beats a heart that's filled with fears
Behind this smile it's so painful making
I hide the fact my heart is breaking
Behind this image i allow outside to see
Beats a heart that longs to be free
Behind this masquerade the life i'm living
Alone in a world that's cold and unforgiving
Inside this prison that is my mind
Detained under lock and key
I recognize the shadow of a face
that once belonged to me.

She grew up
to die
a slow death
buried alive
in a
semi-detached coffin.

Oh man, what a difference in voice. You have gone so far beyond cliche in your second poem. You ahve found your voice and it is very evident. Powerful. This puts you in the "In-the-running List"

Pretty impressive... It does appear you have learned to say MORE with LESS, over time too! This is an interesting contest, eh?
