yes guys can do this to girls(and other guys) as well as girls can do this to guys(and other girls)
sadly we as emotionaly entwined people must all deal with these in order to move on and force ourselfs to be better to our other loved ones.the conffusion fades but the desire for love will hopefully forever remain.
