Happy "New" Year

Another day. Another demise.
A different year, but the same old lies.
I close my eyes and wish the sun away
but it comes back brighter every day

The rays go hiding as the old ball drops.
Only in darkness can a new year start
Only in darkness can my life begin
so why must the sun come back again?

Each morning I wake to a new day
still wishing the world would go away
but I welcome 2008
in hopes it will end the pain I create
