The Butcher

The butcher does not stop to mourn
Their deaths, or he does

But this, does not stop the knife
That moves through their bodies
With the same purpose with which
They passed through life,

Or aimlessly.  The knife slips,
The butcher stops to think
About his life and
starts cutting once again.

Author notes

I was considering that one must continue in spite of life,
or not.

That is deep. I like the fact that you have found inspiration in something that is not the norm. It is always great to step away from the everyday subjects of poetry! I have to say, I think it is a wise choice for the butcher to not mourn. For if he did, it would eat him up heart and soul, don't you think?
