... the passion of her eyes ...

silence is a word
not spoken
by the wordy

poetry pales in its presence

silence slits eyes
and turns skies to canvasses
of alabaster distances

it strips narratives
of bland
exclamations

it comforts
the foreign tongue
of the marginal mind

silence simply shouts
stars
into climax

it writes love's blotless side

My grandmother used to tell us; "silence is golden". The absolute best part of being silent is the fact that the adversary cannot read our minds. God knows what the silence is...

I love the feel of this poem my sister. It screams with whispered tones of understanding. Thank you for this entry in Zayra's contest. I wish you the best.

Silence can be the most powerful and cruel weapon in the hands of an "unsafe" person, but here you've shown us the "sweet quiet inbetween".. when no words are necessary and the eyes and the soul connect without the need for words. A lovely spiritual quality about this poem - so much to ponder on. A beautiful poem that says so much in so few words. Thank you for this entry, Myra.

I love the presentation of "stars into climax" and that is a fresh exclamation for sure!

What a beautiful poem that shows the other side of silence....
