This cage

I've been in this cage since the day of my birth
I've never found myself of any worth
The metal bars have started to rust
They have to let me out, I know they must!
The stars around me I cut out from love
In hope they would send light down from above
I have tried many times but cant break free
Why does no one notice me?
Each day I try to spread my wings
I now know why the caged bird sings

    I now know why the caged bird sings

    I love that line, no matter who uses it I do love it. I reasd this several times and I think I still have to read it one more time!!
    Keep up with your writing, it seems to be such a big part of you.

    i remeber a song about the caged bird and how they clipped her wings but she could still sing
    i loved that song
    they couldnt break her spirit
    this poem had a great message i realy liked this poem very much
