Bird Watcher

Missing image

~~~~~
The birds are playing
somewhere else today
and I have no sunflower seeds
to tempt their appetite
or wet their thirsty minds
with sweet dreams of spring
The shadows against the flaxen sun
are long-legged and piney
and they sway
with the breezy music
humming in the background
But I just sit here in this chair
and watch the empty sky
so full of life
and wonder where the birds are
    I am a bird lover...I never seem to miss their flight, no matter where they are but I have had the odd occasion of wonderment when I didn't see any in the same space with me. Your poem takes me to those rare moment. Very descriptive and clearly visual. Sigh~ Thank you for this entry in Zayra's contest. I wish you the very best.
    I liked the reflective quality of this poem... there is a sense of peace and serenity here, despite the absence of birds. I especially liked the visuals of this line "The shadows against the flaxen sun are long-legged and piney" - and the way that line links with the picture - wonderful imagery there! A lovely poem - thank you for this entry.
    I like the use of words and descriptions in this poem. I especially like the appearance of the sunflower and its various attachments. Very well done.
    i do that also- before they come
    to the feeder- where are they? where do they spend their day
    when they are not feeding at my house?
    i love
    or wet their thirsty minds with dreams of spring.. that is stunning
    i really like this one.
