Patchwork Poem

I can distinctly remember thinking
When hiking the remote canyons,
Exploring the highlights of North America’s
Rockies and Orca-spotting off Vancouver
And seeing the breathtaking Niagara Falls,
Whether I planned to start a career,
Or be a dad, with a blue-collar job.
But what did I know about that
True wilderness paradise
Living in historic Washington D.C.
But my torn right quadriceps,
Stopped all the adventures
Now I change diapers
And recall my explorations.
