the optimist who smiles when things go bad
laughing when others are so negative
they're bright and cheerful
making it a pleasure to be around
all the others follow the crowd
while this one is a born leader

congrats, my friend! A worthy win... AGAIN.

Love, CookieZ/Dianne

I can so relate I know a person like that. they are leaders... its short, simple and sweet. great write
-
i really love this poem, it means so much to me because i always try to smile through the tears and the pain and the smiles get me through because God gives me my joy and the ability to smile.
-
I like this poem.
-
i like this, its very to the point. it really reminds me of one of my closest friends, she's my complete opposite when it comes to outlooks on life.
-
lol, love this, i yhink everyone knows at least one ever optimistic person. great poem well done woop woop woop
-
We're all looking for that face in a crowd. Thanks for reminding us that they are there.
-
The picture and the words are uplifting, positive message, short and sweet, a good New year's thought.
-
lol, this is great.
-
If you're not happy, what are you!!! My smile may be broken but it doesn't mean I'm down and out forever! wonderful poem you have here! keep smiling! and remember: it takes 47 muscles to frown but only 17 to smile!
-
I think we all know someone like this. That one
perpetually cheerful person, which can be wonderful
to be around and yet at times can make you scream.
great job on this and congratulations on your trophy. -
And what a joy to be around those who are positive

A fine sharing this is!
Congrats on your bronze trophy!
All the best to you! -
Thoughtful
I really like the pic with what you wrote. It just fills in the pieces. it was very thoughtful and i don't think i would have thought of optimist, which is really good. I would have said happy or something stupid. haha. You actually gave it thought and what you came up with was different than what most woulda thought.
-
there realy should be more optimistic people in this world
-
It's so true. Hope is required to be a leader.
Well expressed.
Congrats on the bronze.
Be Well

-
That is the best way to be Happy. why not life is too short to be otherwise.
-
Congratulation on the Bronze
This write was very delightful, It expressed the pic so well, Great write.

-
Great poem. Short but straight to the point and is so true. I myself try to be as optimistic as I can cause I used to not be like that. But to get through everything in life, I feel you do need a positive attitude.
-
Thank God for the optomists. the rest of the world would be doomed without them.

-
Short and cheerful!
A nice little piece that cheered me up! =)
Nice to find some quirky positive poetry on here.
Ryan

-
A very well-written and wonder voice of hope. God love those folks who see the positive - and I think you are one of them!
Wolfie

-
very positive write but im one of those blue faces.that yellow guy gets on my nerves.but the poem was good!
-
So ture your words are. Wouldn't it be nice if there was more then just one! A great positive read, thanks for sharing
-
A great way to start the new year with such a refreshing write. short but rather sweet. tnanx, conni
-
this is such a cute poem its short and to the point and the picture is very cute as well you did a great job
-
the thing that i like about this is the "lurking" in the first line. whether you meant to or not, it indicates a sort of innate hatred towards that optimist, that person who will never frown with the rest.
-
Good Morning, This was a delight to read this morning. I love the picture. Smiles are contagious. Some see the glass half full and not half empty. I prefer it half full myself. Great write. Thanks for the SMILES!!!

You take care, Sandy
-
I think this is very nice indeed. Good job. Best wishes and thanks for sharing. And it is so true too. Nice work.
-
Positive thinking highlighted in a novel way.Optimists tend to win over adversities Pessimist just give up
-
Very interesting. I was also touched by this, dear grannyeri. Your poetry is sweet. It made me smile and think, just like all others who read your words and embrace the beauty you convey. ~ Kerri
-
Awww. I was very touched by this poem. Just something about how you said, what you did. Or just that you said it. It made me smile. It made me think.
Thank you for sharing this great read. I truly enjoyed it.

-
Yes Those ARe Few...................
and far between aren't they??? But still they are the type of person who can overcome adversity, or smile in the midst of negativity.I like the picture although I thought it was an add for walmart at first....lol...just joking!!! But you speak true words here and it is not hard to see a natural born leader they just seem to be a magnet for many to follow!!! Thanks for sharing a very good piece of poetry!!!~~Toni~~

-
congratulations on your bronze... i didnt see the other poems but this one is from a heart of gold and thats what i would have given it. this one is definitely one of my favourites of yours... and just what i needed to read at the moment to cheer me up

loads of hugs,

Excellent
I am truly surprised by this poem. It really states the point without so many words. You are a great poet. Keep up the good work. Keep writing and I'll keep reading.
-
the "featued poems" led me back to a poem i already commented on! im happy you one the contest, it's a good poem!
-
AMEN!

-
Lovely Work
There is always one of these people. Looking for the good things in life without concern. Things always seem to work out for the best.
-
This made me smile. Short and to the point. I likethe picture that goes with it as well.
-
I love people like that.
Short, but I like it, like how it makes you think, really makes you wonder why the rest of us are so darn grim.
Well done!

-
Oh wow, just reading that makes me grin!!
The picture works very well with it as well.
I want to be that random smiley that brings every one up
I agree with Still Wondering, I'm so bookmarking this in case I ever need a pick me up!
Very good, so much emotion in such a short poem, well done
Claire xx

No words can describe
WOW! Words cannot describe how
I felt while reading. This is
just something that makes me
want to look out into the
crowd and find that one leader!
It's short, but so to the point.
That is what every good poem needs.
This is really, really really
fantabulistic. As I have
mentioned, I truly can't describe
how I feel. A tingling sensation
surges through me to read this.
I am so bookmarking this. The picture helps
-
interesting concept for the picture prompt profound really gets me thinking and stuff thanks for entering
-
Where's the Rest of It?
This is a poem? Where are the poetic elements? It's nice that you have a little pick-me-up, but there's nothing that really makes this a poem at all -
perfect picture for this hehe

first stanza, use a : instead of a -?
'that optimist' -> 'the optimist'
'who laughs' -> 'laughing when ...'
interesting conclusion that the optimstic ones make good leaders, I'm not sure if I've found this to be necessarily true. Too much apathy == bad leadership, but most I've seen aren't the over-the-top happy people either...
-
Loved it. Everything about it, and yes, the image does compliment, instead of the other way around. Great job, and I hope you win more competitions with it.
Nothing to it indeed...
Enough said,
Peace,
Jin
-
Wow a graphic that actually enhances verse, nice departure from all the distracting pixies, warlocks, and vampires. Digging the message too, simple and true.

-
What a beautiful way to look at the world though... if only we could all take what is thrown at us and turn it into the positive... sensational, I hope this does brilliantly in every one of the contests it is entered into
Karen

-
A good write and presentation. You capture the character of an optomist. An enjoyable read.
-
Disagree, maybe
If this is about an individual I can see it. As a generalization, I have to disagree. While the world has it's share of optimists as leaders, many also ride the other side of the train. The eternal optimist can be just as much as a pain to be around as the eternal pessimist. Whether someone is one of the sheep or a wolf is really more dependent on upbringing than whether or not they have a sunny disposition. I did like it, it is a fun read.
-
Uplifting
Very true. Great piece. Good Luck in the contest. Feel free to check out my page, I am trying new styles of writing.
Take Care,

-
Like it
I really like it. Are you the optimist by any chance? -
-
I try to be positive
It seems to help the day go by quicker.
-
-
I know I have commented on this before, but I had to let my little one read it.It still reminds me of her.Thank you So much for sharing
-
Nice
Nice little poem, full of hope and optimism, like your way of looking at things. Well done on your bronze trophy,
Floorboards.
-
This is a good poem. and its really optimistic. If only there could be more than one happy person in the crowd. But then again if too many people are happy then I would prob go crazy.
-
Those people (happy face people) may sometimes be misinterpret by others whose minds are close and I'm sad about it. Usually it happens to me.

-
Wow
Great write. You decribed the picture very well. I like that its short, and right to the point. I often see people like this, sometimes I think I am one myself LOL. Great job, keep it up. -
hehe this is very cute and optimistic. I cheer to read this in the middle of this world and the Prozac epidemic.

-
Spot on! This one I found to be so true. Thank you for sharing it.

-
Still wonderful i see!
Saw your name and just had to read it, glad i did too! I loved the use of "lurking" even with the referred being a good thing, great contrast. Always a pleasure to take in your writing, been a while since I've been able to. Cant wait to hunt down some more of your recent pieces. -

The Truth.
Woah, you're so right about this one !
Wow, great job seriously I get every meaning of every word and I know exactly where you're coming from.
Very cool nice job :].

-
I like it... its cute and unique. Its one of those poems that just makes you grin. The true power of a smile...
~Jodi -
A born leader indeed! Everyone follows the one bringing the smiles and positive attitude! Loved it!
Blessings,
Frogz~
-
This is lighthearted and fun. It is positive and upbeat. Great write

-
Indeed he or she is
I have always found that laughter is contageous if given through sincerity wonderful write indeed -
ha ha ha, I like it, not very poetic but I love the ideas and your comments, I'm usually getting into trouble for being that person.
-
Bravo!!!
I've never had anyone describe me so accuratly!!!
I was once described as being a smiling botox retard,
from my children's 5th grade classmates, they could not understand what I was happy about, always, the smiling part was the gospel truth, the botox and retard were a knife to my heart coming from children.
This is a very powerful write.
Love the picture.
Lo-Amo!!!
Salute!!!!! -
hahaha i am this person... but sometimes it gets hard to be hppy... so i let it out in poems...thank you for putting my feelings into words

-
great to read something so positive. It reminds me of the joke about "where is the pony?" the optimist asks when she sees her room filled with manure. lol.
-
I like the light hearted feel to this and the message is quiet clear. That picture is awesome, I love smiley faces. It's nice to read something like this once in a while and it made me smile

Thank you for sharing
Becky

-
This is very good. I like the way you wrote it. and it's the truth: no matter what, how many people are upset, there's always going to be one person who's always in a good mood and has a good attitude. Nice work. Congrats on your bronze trophy. Keep up yoru good work!
Crimson -
Wonderful upbeat message. Smiles don't cost extra, but they sure feel good ... giving and receiving. I am one of those optimists and as I have matured, I find that life is full of lessons ... positive and negative. Sometimes it requires a harder look to find the positive ... but is usually there nonetheless! Thanks for sharing this and Congrats on the bronze!

-
Am i really a born leader ?

-
This is a nice take on your picture prompt. Some may see this individual as hopelessly naive, but I see him/her as the toughest of souls, one able to endure life and still find reason to sing. If only they weren't such an endangered species . . .
-
Brilliant optimistic poem! Its hard to put a smile on a readers face or make them think and you have done both I loved it! I can relate because i see myself as the optimist in my group and when im down! oh god we wont even go there!! Congrats on the trophy i thought it was well deserved!!

-
ok. I see a great description but the qualities that make a poem a poem (imagery, metaphor, simile, assimile, meter, free form with imagery, rhythmn, or any combination) are lacking here. The message is wonderful and the points are very direct. This would have made a good idea foundation for a poem. For example, a few nips and snips could have turned this into a powerful HAIKU.
Keep Penning,
John
-
Yes!
I couldn't agree more! You are so right! Your poetic prose, even in its wonderfully refreshing brevity captured a powerful message. The smilers are, honestly, born leaders. Others may seem to lead, while others follow almost without a clue. Eventually, the followers will group with the true leaders and everyone will be smiling. Cheers and Blessings! Happy New Year to you!--Kel

-
This is a nice little piece of writing, I really liked it, which I hardly ever say to short poems. Congrats on the bronze!
- Jojo x sinnocence -
great job
great job on this short write . . optimistic . . like "who laughs when others are so negative" and "while this one is a born leader" . . positive reinforcement . . congrats on the bronze !
-
Just love it!
I saw this pic too..and giggled..don't you just love it!
That was very wonderful to read, and so wisely put too!
ears2hearyou
Kathleen : )) just like you! -
I really enjoy this! I can really relate to the poem, because it seems that I am usually the positive one when it comes to most of the people I know. Great write.
Cheers,
Liv
-
short but sweet, indeed some people art just the natural optimist who see light in all dark. congrats on your bronze, it was very well deserved
lucy

-
I love your work. You write to where what you want to express is easy to understand and I like your style.Congatulations on the bronze. It is well deserved.I look forward to reading more of your work in the future.
-
It's great to read something positive, perhaps we should all smile more often, even though the world is a grim place at times, but then only we can change it! Other people's good vibes do rub off on you, I think. Congratulations on getting the bronze trophy for your inspirational words.
Ann

-
what better way to share, be happy and share the emotions, thank you for sharing..m

-
I love it!

-
This is so true, I know people who are always smiling, never have a frown, always upbeat, which in turn make other happy or as that old saying "turn that frown upside down."

Good write and congrats on your trophy for a well done entry.
Jen

pretty really good.

congrats to the win...
but normally(not being rude) it's the other way around...
but this does fit the picture well...

Congrats on your win and it's so true that there is always a happy face in the crowd. May I and everyone else be able to find this happiness inside of us too. I thank you for sharing this truth with me. Thanks...

-
oops, apologies, remiss of me,forgot to applaud

-
I enjoyed this little ditty. I know so often I am just a frowing, but someone will give me a genuine smile, and just make my day. In turn, I smile at someone who is frowning and they return the smile. One precious smile can surely go a long way. Very nice piece.
Sam

-
You must be the one smiling, very cute. Congrats on the bronze

-
that made me smile
-
cute photo, cute poem, I need to listen to it, I'm a wimpy little follower
-
The poem both tells and shows.I do not see the need for a picture, the poetry for me either builds and reveals a picture within the mind's eye or it doesn't... A perspective shared and not, not a criticism.
-
This is amazing! I love the way you've got a point acorss in so many words, I liked the part where you said "there's one lurking in every crowd -" as your opening line, it made me want to read more, and the picture just made me laugh lol. I like your poetry style, and I can see you have talent
I hope to read much more of your work, keep it up!
All the best,
*Stephi*

Wow
You've beautifully captured the essence of the picture... with your words you've painted this picture which seems unnecessary for your poem is complete painted masterpiece in itself... So very well said in few lines you have reached the depths of the deepest sea... yep that's the odd one in the crowd who smiles, isn't it unfortunate that no-a-days we have forgotten to smile? it's so worthy of the trophy.. thanks for sharing... take care Minoo
