Wrapped within this loneliness
It smothers me and fills my mind
As time drags on, my body numbs
A strange comfort I seem to find
The emptiness befriends my soul
And suddenly I lose all desire
To venture out, to leave indoors
Why should I leave my own empire?
Then the voices within grow louder
Telling me this is where I belong
Away from others, on my own
Should I listen? Might they be wrong?
Though whispers turn into shouts
I stop and wonder what has changed
It’s then I start to have my doubts
And decide I will no longer be chained
